Usually comic book movies have definite heroes and villains in their stories so it's easy to root for the good guys for the majority of the time.

However, it sounds like cheering for anybody in the upcoming Venom movie won't be so easy for fans to do.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly (via Heroic Hollywood), Venom director Ruben Fleischer talked at the San Diego Comic Con and said that there are no real heroes in the new movie. You can read his comments about it posted below.

"I feel like the tone of our movie is really original and distinctive, which is totally appropriate for the character, as Venom is a darker, more violent, more menacing character. I think our movie feels distinctive from a lot of the other superhero movies, in part because there’s no real hero in it."

Venom has always been regarded as a "lethal protector" and an "anti-hero: more than a cookie cutter hero.

Unlike Spider-Man, Batman and many other heroes, Venom usually does not follow any moral rules and usually is not hesitant to kill enemies he feels deserves to be punished.

This is the second time that Sony is bringing the character of Venom to the big screen.

His first live action movie appearance was in Spider-Man 3 where he was a villain being played by Topher Grace. Sadly though, Venom's film debut was met with a lot of criticism back in 2007.

Hopefully Tom Hardy's portrayal of the character fares much better. The Venom movie releases in North America on October 5th, 2018.
