Many WWE wrestling fans were saddened to hear last night that Nikki Bella and John Cena decided to end their engagement and have now broken up.

A source close to the matter has now given a possible reason why wrestling couple decided to split up.

A source has told People.com that Nikki Bella is heartbroken about the split and that Cena put his own priorities first.

The source suggests Nikki Bella wanted to settle down and have kids, but Cena didn't want to do all of that.

Nikki Bella is also disappointed that Cena proposed to her last year at WrestleMania 33 without really wanting to marry her in the first place.

Worst still, the wedding was to take place on May 5th, 2018 but now obviously that is not going to happen.

Cena posted on his official Twitter account responding to the split with Nikki Bella. You can read what he had to say down below.

"Hardship, loss, and humility are extremely difficult waters to navigate, but perseverance thru them builds a strength to withstand anything life throws your way."

As for Nikki Bella, all she has done is post about the split on her own Instagram account. You can read down below what she had to say publicly.

"After much contemplation and 6 years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple. "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."

It will be interesting to see what happens in the future between the two wrestlers. Cena is likely not going to settle down, but Nikki Bella could find love with someone else instead.
