While it's several months until the 2019 Academy Awards, this has not stopped Disney from campaigning for Black Panther to get nominated for the major awards.

Disney faces an uphill battle though because comic book movies rarely get nominated for the major awards!

Disney has posted on the official website a list of categories it feels Black Panther should be nominated in.

Some of the categories include Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and more. It's not just the technical categories that Disney is chasing.

There has been a lot of debate recently about the Academy Awards in general because many people believe they snub comic book movies on purpose.

After all, 2008's The Dark Knight deserved a Best Picture and Best Director nomination, but was snubbed for both categories.

It wasn't until Christopher Nolan directed Dunkirk almost ten years later did he get nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. This is all because Dunkirk is based off on World War 2 which was a real life event.

The Academy previously wanted to introduce a "Popular Movie" award next year, but those plans have been postponed. Whether or not the category will be introduced at a later date remains to be seen.

Anyway, hopefully Black Panther is recognized for the bigger awards next year at the Oscars.

The movie is the best reviewed comic book film of all time and it deserves all the praise it has been getting.

It will be a bit of a shame if the movie gets snubbed like The Dark Knight in the major categories.
