Black Panther was a huge success when it came out earlier this year.

The movie was a Box Office smash and is the highest rated comic book movie of all time beating out the likes of Iron Man and The Dark Knight just to name a few.

Due to the success of the first Black Panther movie, it's no surprise that Marvel Studios is already planning to make Black Panther 2 in the near future.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Ryan Coogler is back to write and direct the immediate sequel.

The plan right now is for the film to start production in late 2019 or early 2020.

As for an exact release date for the movie, that has yet to be determined as Marvel Studios is still thinking out its future slate of movies.

As of right now, the only confirmed movies for next year include Captain Marvel in March 2019, Avengers 4 in May 2019 and finally Spider-Man: Far From Home in July 2019.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was supposed to be out sooner than later, but Marvel Studios has put that movie on hold after the departure of James Gunn.

The first Black Panther movie was historic because it managed to gross over $700 million in North America and over $1.3 billion from around the world. It was never in doubt that the movie would have had a sequel.

The character of Black Panther could still appear in Avengers 4, although it won't be a major role since he has to share the screentime with lots of other characters.

However, it's good to know the character will still be in future movies as he's one of the most popular MCU characters right now.
