The Halloween franchise has had a lot of sequels and most of them have been pretty bad or mediocre at best.

However, the new 2018 version of Halloween has been getting lots of good reviews and could be one of the best horror sequels of all time.

As seen on Rotten Tomatoes, Halloween 2018 has an 87% approval rating on the aggregate website. An overwhelming majority of reviews are fresh as 84 reviewers have given the movie a thumbs up. Only 13 reviewers gave the film a negative rating.

The average score for the film is 7.2/10 meaning many critics would have given the movie 3.5/5 stars or higher. You can read the critics consensus posted down below.

"Halloween largely wipes the slate clean after decades of disappointing sequels, ignoring increasingly elaborate mythology in favor of basic - yet still effective - ingredients."

The rating is on par with the first Halloween movie that came out all the way back in 1978.

The original movie has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 93% from critics with an audience score of 89%. The original movie still remains to be the best reviewed movie in the entire franchise.

Not surprisingly, only Halloween 1978 and Halloween 2018 are the best reviewed movies from the entire series.

Many of the sequels and spin-offs that have been made over the years have rotten ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. It's rare for horror sequels to be good so the 2018 movie has done a great job for bucking that trend.

Halloween 2018 will be released in North America on October 19th, 2018. It is set to have the biggest opening weekend of the franchise at the Box Office.
