The review embargo for the Venom movie has been lifted and it sounds like the critics aren't liking the film at all.

The very early Rotten Tomatoes rating has been revealed and the number will not impress studio executives over at Sony Pictures.

As you can see on the Rotten Tomatoes website, the current rating for Venom is a low 30% as of time of writing. Only eight reviews are fresh while a majority of 19 reviews gave it a negative score.

The average score for the film is 4.6/10 meaning most reviewers would have given it around 2.0/5.0 stars or 2.5/5.0 stars. You can read the critics consensus posted down below.

"Venom's first standalone movie turns out to be like the comics character in all the wrong ways - chaotic, noisy, and in desperate need of a stronger attachment to Spider-Man."

Many of the reviews describe the movie as outdated and that the film belongs in the year 2004. Some reviewers don't mind the movie's humor, but it sounds like the tone is inconsistent throughout the entire film.

The low rating won't look good for Sony as they were hoping Venom would kickstart a new franchise. If the Box Office numbers are low, the chances of a sequel happening won't look good.

Anyway, you can read a synopsis for the film posted below. The movie stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom.

"Investigative journalist Eddie Brock attempts a comeback following a scandal, but accidentally becomes the host of an alien symbiote that gives him a violent super alter-ego: Venom. Soon, he must rely on his newfound powers to protect the world from a shadowy organisation looking for a symbiote of their own.

Venom releases in North America on October 5th, 2018. We should have a review for the movie very soon once we see the film for ourselves later this week.
