As some of you might know already, Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, was fired by Disney earlier this year due to finding out he posted offensive tweets almost a decade ago.

Well now Dave Bautista (who plays Drax) is threatening to quit the franchise if James Gunn is not involved.

Dave Bautista still wants to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but only if James Gunn's original script is being used. Bautista is open for another director stepping in, but will leave if a new script is used.

Dave Bautista revealed this shocking news earlier today during an exclusive interview with ShortList. You can read his recent comments on the matter posted down below.

Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met. Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.

The entire cast has voiced support for James Gunn to be rehired, but Disney has not revealed its plans for the future just yet.

The most likely scenario is that a new director will be used, but James Gunn's script should be retained.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 won't be out until at least the year 2020 so the cast and Disney itself still have enough time to think this all over.
