Smackdown first got its name thanks to a catchphrase that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson uttered nearly 20 years ago. Well the show is celebrating its 1000th episode next week and WWE wants huge names to appear on the event.

WWE has already confirmed that The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Vickie Guerrero, Teddy Long and Torrie Wilson will appear on the show.

The company has also confirmed the reunion of the Evolution stable as Randy Orton, Batista, Ric Flair and Triple H will be making an appearance too.

Two other names not confirmed yet, but rumored to appear include former famous Smackdown stars Edge and Rey Mysterio. These two were a part of the original Smackdown draft roster back in 2002.

Now it's being reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via LordsofPain) that WWE wants Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on the Smackdown 1000 show.

The Rock previously taped a segment for the show's 10th anniversary show back in 2009, so hopefully he can come back and make an actual appearance next week.

Dwayne Johnson is one of the busiest men in Hollywood right now so WWE will have to try and get him quickly before he's busy doing one of his many other projects.

The Rock is usually able to make one-off appearances, although the last time he appeared in person in the ring for the company was last year.

Hopefully he's able to make it to the show. After all, The Rock and Triple H wrestled in the first ever episode of Smackdown when it aired all the way back in 1999.
