The Arrowverse will be expanding later this year as Batwoman will be added to the big roster of CW superheroes. The CW has now announced that actress Ruby Rose will be playing Batwoman later this year.

Batwoman will be debuting in a special crossover event that will see all of the other CW superheroes needing to team up. It's expected that the Batwoman character will eventually have her own show in the near future.

One of the biggest things about the Batwoman character is that she's a lesbian meaning she will represent the LBGT community. Anyway, you can read a synopsis for the show posted below by The CW.

"Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope."

Ruby Rose also reacted to getting cast in the role via her official Instagram page. You can read her comments on the matter posted below.

"The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck.. because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different. Thank you everyone. Thank you god."

We will be reviewing many of The CW shows again so stay tuned to know what we will think of the Batwoman character.
