The animated movie 'The Death of Superman' came out last year and it got decent reviews. Sure the movie took some different directions from the comic book arc, but it was still a fun movie to watch.

The only thing I did not like about last year's 'The Death of Superman' is the fact that it was predictable and the first half of the movie started quite slow.

It was also weird that the movie felt more like a Justice League film than a standalone Superman flick.

Well 'Reign of the Supermen' is an improvement over last year's movie featuring more action scenes and is more of a traditional Superman story.

The Justice League aren't in the movie much so you are getting a solely majority Superman story.

That being said, the main Superman/Clark Kent character doesn't get revived until the second half of the movie.

This is because the first half of the movie takes a look at the many Superman clones that have stepped up in his absence.

With Superman's 'demise' six months ago, several people have made clones of Superman taking their chances on saving Metropolis. This includes Steel, a Cyborg Superman, another Superman with a yellow visor and Superboy who has been created by Lex Luthor.

Lex Luthor is in this movie quite a bit because he's advertised as the main adversary of the film, but then we realize a more sinister plot is happening thanks to another popular villain pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

The first half of the movie is quite interesting because the viewer is guessing who's bad and who's good.

We're not sure which 'Superman' we can trust so you have to wait and see which characters are actually noble or not.

By the end of the movie, the real Superman comes back with a black suit and his iconic mullet.

This is how Superman should have appeared like in the Justice League movie, but Warner Bros instead did their own thing in that film...

What I like most about 'Reign of the Supermen' is that the movie is unpredictable and features a lot of interesting action sequences.

I remember 'The Death of Superman' being a slow movie until Doomsday finally showed up to take down Superman in Metropolis.

'Reign of the Supermen' is a much faster paced film and I loved the fact that it's tries to stay true to the original comic book arc.

It's a lot better than the rushed Superman: Doomsday animated movie from 2007. That film felt very rushed and unfinished compared to this new movie.

Overall, 'Reign of the Superman' is an enjoyable animated DC film featuring top notch animation and decent voice acting. If you loved last year's 'The Death of Superman', you'll certainly love this movie too.

'Reign of the Superman' is out now digitally with a physical DVD and Blu-ray release releasing on January 29th, 2019.

Verdict: 4/5 stars.
