Journalist Yashar Ali of the Huffington Post and New York Magazine today released a letter that he says was sent by CBS board member Arnie Kopelson to Kathy Griffin, after she posted the picture of herself holding a severed head likeness of Donald Trump.

And the letter is shocking to say the least.

Here is the text of the letter:

Kathy, It's obvious that somehow you have to get to Trump himself who has been known to be compassionate. However, it's not over until it's over .... You have one chance left if you send the following letter (NOT AN EMAIL) to the President. DON'T CHANGE A WORD OF IT. (Go to Google for "how to address the President" and where to send it etc. You will EXCLUSIVELY release the letter to Fox Broadcasting (DO NOT SEND TO THE OTHER NETWORKS) I think this will possibly get you over the mess.

Dear Mr. President,

Please, I beg you to not stop reading. I have done a terrible thing. I was attempting to appeal to my audience, not thinking of the affect on you and your family. Not thinking how misguided I was. What i did was beyond being oblivious to humanity.

I am now being lectured by friends who have supported you, friends who I didn't want to listen to in the past about you. Now with my world crumbling around me, I am listening for the first time about the great things you have done and are doing. How stupid I was to follow the lies from the "Left". It took my terrible mistake to finally see the false news. I compounded the lies by creating the ugly, disgusting and horrendous, unspeakable thing, thinking it was funny at your expense or not thinking of the hurt I have caused you and your family, just to possibly get a laugh. How warped and misguided I was. My stupidity is overwhelming.

I do not deserve what I am asking of you. I am begging you to open your heart and forgive me. I have done a terrible thing and I have lost may career and my life. My career is over as I have lost the respect of my audience. I spent my entire life to get to wherever I was in standup comedy, only to lose it forever.

Your forgiveness is to allow me to live my life with my head held high, knowing that I am a good person and forever repenting for the hurt I have caused. Thank you sir for hearing meh plea.

Respectfully, Kathy Griffin

KATHYY, I have spent the last hour and a half composing this letter. Please don't call me to discuss it. Just do it.

IF YOU DONT DO EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN, YOUR CAREER IS OVER. Conversely, I think this letter will get the world to forgive you, even if he doesn't respond.
