When discussing the top five artists on the charts during his SiriusXM show, Howard Stern broke into a short discussion about Taylor Swift's open letter to Apple about not paying artists for the free subscription period.

"Howard said Taylor got upset with Apple streaming. Howard said that there are streaming services and Apple is going to be doing their own service," according to MarksFriggin.

Stern continued that Apple sees that people are paying and they're getting in on it. He included the fact that the relationship between Apple and the artists they support was good until the decision.

Empty Lighthouse reported on Swift's letter to Apple explaining why she was going to pull her music from the Apple Music service because the company would not be paying the artists royalties for a free three month subscription.

"Howard said that she's upset and rightly so. Howard said Apple can't dictate when they pay the artists," reported MarksFriggin.

"Howard said that Sirius still had to pay the artists when they only had 400,000 subscribers.

Howard said that he thinks it's a fair argument on Taylor's side.

Howard said that Taylor is saying that she's doing pretty well but for someone else who has a hit song in the top 5 they're saying that he won't get paid if they're offering free service."

It looks like Apple has already begun to oversee that the decision they made earlier is changed.

Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet software and services told the New York Times that upon reading the letter he knew changes had to be made.

"I did let her know that we heard her concerns and made the change," said Cue in the article and since then Swift has tweeted her feelings on the Apple Music change sparked by her Open Letter.
