There is no doubt that the Deadpool film was loaded with controversy when it announced it's R-Rating.

However, that controversy proved to work in their favor as fans welcomed the R-Rating and helped the film break an opening weekend record for an R-Rated film.

Now, it looks like the Marvel universe is pushing for Wolverine 3 to be rated R.

"20th Century Fox revealed at Toy Fair 2016 that they would be targeting an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's final run as Wolverine next year," according to Comicbook.

"There was no doubt they would pursue R-rated movies in the future as they explored the Deadpool and X-Force corners of their X-Men universe but to take a character who has been established as PG-13 for over 15 years now is bold."

Jackman's last couple of Wolverine films sort of pushed the button when it came to a couple of scenes, however, given the success of the Deadpool film, it's safe to say that 20th Century Fox and Marvel are feeling a little better when it comes to giving their comic book universe an R-Rating. Of course, this might not mean much as parents still took their kids to see the Deadpool film which was riddled with graphic violence, language and nudity.

However, it is a pretty bold step.
