Girl Meets World: Maya's Mom's Name Is What??? Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

In tonight's episode of Girl Meets World, the moment we've all been waiting for is finally here: Sean Hunter gets married to Maya's mother.

Early in the episode, it becomes clear that Maya has mixed feelings about the wedding. During a sleepover at Riley's house, Maya reveals why she has doubt about the impending wedding: It was really tough for Maya to comfort her mother when her father left. That initial abandonment has made her a skeptic about whether relationships last.

Maya is filled with"what if's" and concedes that she loves Sean too much to see him eventually rejecting her mother or her. She fears that if he weds her mother, their marriage will drive him away.

The doubt Maya feels drives her to confront Sean. She forces him to tell her why he actually wants to marry his mother. She tells him that she's afraid of things going wrong for her in her life. She questions why Sean has to get married, and why it isn't enough to simply be in a committed relationship.

Sean answers that he identifies with her, having had negative expectations of his future his entire life. But Sean believes that getting married and doing it in a public fashion is a symbol of taking a leap of faith and the beginning of a future of hope.

He dares Maya to do the same and when he leads her out to the site where he's planning to wed Katy, he demonstrates a spontaneity that convinces Maya he does truly love her mother.

The climax of the episode soon arrives with the wedding in full swing and a surprise appearance from Mr. Feeney, one of the beloved characters from the original Boy Meets World series.

Mr. Feeney winds up revealing an unusual fact - Maya's mother's name is actually Katy Clutterbucket.

And then the moment arrives -- Katy and Sean are about to say their "I do's" and as we might have expected from teaser clips, Maya interrupts.

But the surprise is that while she interrupts their vows, it's only to voice her support of her mother's marriage to Sean and her faith that things will work out for them.

The episode ends with Maya expressing her comfort with being called Sean's daughter, a moment we'll all been wanting for her the entire season.

And there you have it. The episode concludes on a note of hope. We can't wait to see if it gets carried through the rest of the season.
