Seth Meyers on Late Night During Election Season

It's still crazy to think that Seth Meyers is now two years in to Late Night with Seth Meyers and he recently stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres show to talk about the ups and downs of late night television especially during election season.

Meyers and DeGeneres sat down and chatted about how much work actually went into his late night television show and how it differed from SNL. He told DeGeneres that the most fun is doing the show in front of the audience more often than he did with SNL.

He and DeGeneres agreed that it was nice to have the audience come for them.

Meanwhile, election season is a pretty big time when it comes to ratings and Meyers' forte.

Meyers said it's an exciting time for him but he is terrified for the future of the country given the 2016 Presidential hopefuls in the running.

He has had Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton as guests on the show however, it doesn't look like he anticipates having Donald Trump on the show. He says it is fun to have politicians on the show but they typically just try to hit their talking points.

Meyers is expecting his first child and says he didn't realize that there was such a thing as a push present. With help from the audience, Meyers realizes that he probably should get his wife a push present.

During his interview, DeGeneres also revealed that Meyers would be receiving an honorary degree from his alma mater alongside a university president, a family and child well-being expert and other distinguished individuals. Meyers joked that the rest of the guys were overrated because he felt more accomplished that all of the others.

However, he revealed that he was really going to feel like the biggest dummy.

In an even funnier twist, Meyers told DeGeneres that when he received his diploma the first time around, he got to his seat, opened the leather holder to find a note that said he had unpaid parking tickets to take care of before he could receive his actual diploma. Meyers says that he is hoping the honorary degree doesn't come with the same note 20 years later.
