Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle surprised everyone when it released last December and managed to gross over $900 million worldwide at the Box Office. Sony Pictures has now pinpointed an official release date for another film in the series.

Star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson revealed the release date for the Jumanji sequel over on his official Instagram page. You can read his full announcement posted down below.

"Officially planting our JUMANJI flag. On DECEMBER 13th, 2019 - the game is not over. I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I’m beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut ($1BILLION+) it became. Can’t wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early. And once again, I get to slap @kevinhart4real’s lip’s into next week. The world is happy."

The December 13th, 2019 release date has been chosen on purpose because Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle still grossed a lot of money in the Holiday period even when it went up against Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The Jumanji sequel will be going up against Star Wars yet again as Disney has bookmarked Episode IX to be released on December 20th, 2019.

The Jumanji sequel will once again star Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black.

They will all be reprising their roles as the cast was one of the things that people loved so much about Welcome to the Jungle.
