Disney knows what it's doing when it comes to building hype for a highly-anticipated film.

The company has taken this to new levels with the marketing campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Details for the movie have trickled out in everything from trailers to Twitter posts, and even to fans scouring toys (which are cleverly already on shelves) in advance of the movie's December 18 release.

Now, with the movie a little less than two months away the Mouse House has ratcheted up the last bits of teasing in order to bring attention to ticket pre-sales.

First the company released the theatrical poster for the movie.

At first glance, there was nothing new to be seen until you look closely and realize that their appears to be a Death Star looming behind the movie's characters.

That plot detail had never previously been leaked and no statement has been made about its inclusion here, but the presence of the planet-killing battle station the size of a moon tells you quite a bit about the state of the galaxy during the time the movie covers.

Speculation at Grantland.com suggests that the Death Star in the poster is not actually in fact a Death Star.

Instead, it's a planet turned into a mobile Death Star-like device. Whatever it is the giant evil-looking Death Star-ish thing looms large in the background of the poster.

The last piece of The Force Awakens puzzle is the film's final trailer, which was released during Monday Night Football mostly to hype the start of pre-ordering for tickets.

That does not mean the trailer (seen below as soon as it gets released to YouTube) failed to offer some surprises of its own.
