It's not a secret that Drake takes pride in using the Dancehall and Soca influences in some of his top hits.

Take "One Dance" and "Too Good" featuring Rihanna for example. So, it wasn't a surprise when he brought out some Dancehall and Soca legends to help him kick off night one of OVO Fest 2016.

"The move made sense for a few reasons. First, OVO occurs during Toronto's Caribbean Carnival festival, the largest carnival-styled event of its kind in North America, attracting more than 1 million attendees annually," according to Billboard.

"Secondly, most of Drake's inner crew of collaborators and producers are of Jamaican and Caribbean descent, which arguably has resulted in him dabbling in dancehall on Views ('One Dance,' 'Controlla').

This Caribbean music concert's inclusion in OVO fest was viewed as him giving back to the culture that greatly informs his music."

During the 2016 OVO Fest, Drake brought out Dancehall and Soca stars like Machel Montano, Sean Paul, Mavado and Kranium. Oh and you might know a Bajan artist who is taking the U.S. by storm, her name is Rihanna. Together, these artists brought the Caribbean flare to Toronto on a huge stage.
