If you've managed to binge your way through season two of Netflix's Daredevil, you probably know that Jon Bernthal completely nailed his role as The Punisher.

Bernthal sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to talk about how he stayed in character for the film and much more.

Kimmel welcomed Bernthal to the show and said that he was enjoying the role of The Punisher on Daredevil. Bernthal says that the response has been pretty good so far and that the comic book group is very passionate and loyal. He told Kimmel a story about shooting a film in Atlanta and walking in to a convenience store to grab a pack of gum.

He says that the guys name was Paul and Paul told him that he would be watching Daredevil on March 18.

Bernthal says he told Paul that he hoped he enjoyed it and got a "yeah I hope so too," along with a death stare.

Kimmel joked that it was just Paul being Paul. Bernthal has three kids and Kimmel said he couldn't imagine if his dad was the superhero. Bernthal said his son actually likes Daredevil better than The Punisher. For those who haven't already seen the season in its entirety, Bernthal teased the skull on his chest later on in the season.

In terms of staying in his character, Bernthal said he stayed in character to tap into that world of darkness that The Punisher lives in. Kimmel said it sounds terrible and Bernthal pretty much agreed with it.

He says it's a very ambitious role and they take on movie quality fight sequences in TV time. You can check out his interview with Kimmel in the video below.
