The Toyota FT-1 has been regarded as the replacement to the coveted Toyota Supra and as astonishing as it looks, will it's speed and performance match?

"The FT-1 concept is a symbol that captures elements of the emotion and energy we can expect to see in future Toyota vehicles designs," says Toyota on their concept vehicles page.

"Its design is heavily influenced by Toyota's long sports car tradition that includes vehicles such as 2000GT, Celica, Supra and most recently, FT-86 (Scion F-RS)."

Akio Toyoda's styling of the FT-1 combines all of the best of the best from Toyota's performance heritage and dawns a sleek body and aggressive curves.

With the red model being the concept styling is comparable to a Ferrari but unlike the Ferrari the engine specs are still hidden from patient prospective buyers.

"Toyota offered no details on the engine, but it announced that the FT-1 concept is a balanced front-engine, rear wheel-drive model powered by a high performance internal combustion engine," according to TopSpeed.com.

Japanese supercars have shown the ability to tap into a whole new dimension of raw power such as the Nissan GT-R. If the FT-1's engine and suspension are anything close to that of the GT-R then Toyota may have a winner with this project.
