Anything Taylor Swift does makes news, but when she gets a new cat and starts carrying it around like a dog, she has the ability to break the Internet.

The singer, who is currently riding high with the success of her "Shake it Off" single while getting ready to release the "1989" album October 27, has been photographed with her new feline friend, which she has told various news outlets is names after Olivia Benson, the detective character played by Mariska Hargitay.

Kitty Olivia Benson is a Scottish Fold kitten.

First, let's look at why Swift has been carrying the kitten, which is not normally how one transports a cat.

"The kitten freaks out about being put in the cat carrier," Taylor Swift explained. "So I was just like, 'OK, all right, we're gonna just do this!'" Swift told Access Hollywood.

"It was like a 10 foot walk from my door to the car!" she added. "What I thought was funny about those pictures is that, like, the cat is looking straight at the cameras!"

Why is the cat named after the the Law and Order: SVU star?

Swift simply likes naming her animals after TV characters she admires. Her other cat, is amed Meredith, for Ellen Pompeo's Grey's Anatomy character.

Of course, if either cat gets out of line, expect a song on her next album.
