What to do in Narita, Japan

Narita, a city in the Chiba prefecture of Japan, is often overlooked by tourists in favor of nearby Tokyo. However, Narita has a lot to offer for tourists interested in experiencing traditional Japanese culture and history.

1. Naritasan Shinshoji Temple: This temple, founded in 940, is the most famous tourist attraction in Narita. It is a complex of 58 buildings surrounded by a beautiful garden. Visitors can admire the intricate wood carvings, ornate gates, and colorful lanterns that decorate the temple grounds. Don't miss the Goma prayer ceremony, where worshippers can have their wishes and prayers read out loud by a priest.

2. Narita Omotesando: This pedestrian shopping street is lined with traditional Japanese buildings that house souvenir shops, restaurants, and cafes.
