As Tina Fey continues her press tour for the upcoming film Whisky Tango Foxtrot, she visited the Howard Stern SiriusXM radio show to discuss the film, the losing weight and the Mean Girls Musical that is in the works.

After just flying in from Oscar weekend, Tina Fey sat down with the Stern Show to talk about Whisky Tango Foxtrot.

In the film Fey plays a reporter that traveled to Afghanistan but it's completely different from what she expects. The comedy also features Margot Robbie, known for her roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, Focus and more.

Fey briefly talked about her kids slowing her down in her busy life as the interview with Stern opened. She joked that she was putting one of her kids to sleep and one of them told her she had too much luxury over the weekend.

Stern talked about Fey's transition over the years and how much stardom she has amassed.

"Howard said she worked at Saturday Night Live as a writer and she was about 30 pounds overweight so she lost the weight so she could get on camera," according to MarksFriggin.

"Howard said it was a conscious decision. Tina said she had been on stage in Chicago and it's a different esthetic there.

She said she came to New York and wanted to buy some clothes but nothing fit. She said no one ever said to her that she had to lose weight."

Fey didn't seem to think that her appearance had anything to do with Lorne Michaels deciding to put her on SNL. She told Stern that there was an opening on at the time and she accepted it. They dove into talk about the film which fins Fey making the point that a 6 on the good looking scale in America is a 9 when you go overseas.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot is based on a book according to Fey. She said it was a true story and Stern pointed out that Robbie would be a 15 over in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The star told Stern she wasn't sure she would actually be able to go through with a job as dangerous as that one. As for the proper way to address the good looks scale, Fey says the proper terminology used by the army is a 4-10-4 because you are a 4 at home, 10 overseas and 4 when you get back home.

When Fey read the book she realized she wanted to make the film and approached Michaels about it.

Stern pointed out that she made Sisters on her own but she told him that Michaels deal with Paramount simplified the process. She equated it to those who approach Judd Apatow for films.

"Howard asked if she's working on a Mean Girls musical. She said she is. She said her husband is working on the music," according to MF.

"Howard said he would go see that. Howard asked if there is a lot of competition between her and her husband. Tina said she doesn't think so."

Meanwhile, Whisky Tango Foxtrot was actually shot in New Mexico over 3 months and Billy Bob Thornton plays one of the generals in the film. When it comes to the 2016 U.S. Presidential race, Fey says she is endorsing Baba Booey. The extensive interview found Fey and Stern chatting like close friends while touching upon the wide world of comedy. You can catch Tina Fey in Whisky Tango Foxtrot when it hits theaters Friday, March 4.
