Ever look at the board game "Monopoly" and think, man that should be a movie? The answer should be no but turns out that Hollywood is grasping at straws. Hasbro is teaming up with Lionsgate to produce the film.

The two companies announced their partnership on July 1, in a press release. The screenplay will be written up by "The Truman Show" writer, Andrew Nicol.

They say the story will be about, "... a boy from Baltic Avenue who uses both Chance and Community in a quest to make his fortune, taking him on a fun, adventure-filled journey.

It's about making your own luck, what makes you truly rich and, of course, avoiding Jail time!"

To some this whole idea might sound familiar.

Back in 2008, "Monopoly" and a couple other board games, such as CandyLand, were being tossed around as potential movie ideas.

Other board games like "Battleship" and "Ouiji" have already been turned into surprisingly successful movies, so their might be some hope for this one.

"Monopoly" is the most played family board game and it is one of the most popular on a worldwide scale. It has been translated into 47 different languages in order to be distributed through 114 countries.

The game also comes in a variety of themes, from the original to one about horses.

You could find a monopoly game about anything that interests you and thus gives the game a wider chance of resonating with a group of people.

There is no release date for the movie as of yet.
