The shooting involved LA rapper Schoolboy Q took place on July 19th, and new details are emerging.

The Associated Press is reporting that the shooting was likely not random and that Schoolboy Q was the intended target.

"This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that," said Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. "It does seem to be more targeted than random."

Schoolboy Q was not harmed in the incident and no arrests have been made as of yet. Three other passengers in the car were shot, but each recovered.

The rapper as briefly detained during the incident but then promptly released. The rapper himself played off the incident:

This incident is a throwback to the Biggie, Big L and Tupac era where drive-by violence plagued the rap industry. Let's hope that era stays in the past.
