During the band's heyday The Replacements were a tad unreliable.

They might be brilliant or they might be drunk an forget all the words to their songs. What was never a good idea was giving the band an open bar tab.

That's what happened before their performance on "Saturday Night Live," in 1986, an outing so bad it got the band banned not from just the show but from NBC and it's headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Time appears to have healed this wound however as the band is teasing on its YouTube page that it will be guesting on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" Tuesday night.

NBC has not confirmed the appearance and the various website which list guests for the late-night talk shows only show two for "Tonight" on Tuesday night.

If the 'Mats do perform the gig, it will be the latest unexpected triumph for a band which after being gone for 20 years has returned to play in front of bigger audiences than it did during its first run.
