For years SiriusXM's Opie and Anthony have mocked their co-worker Howard Stern for his abbreviated work schedule. Stern basically does a three day week taking Thursdays and Fridays off as well as many full weeks.

The rival shock jocks kept up a much more robust schedule generally putting in a five day week along with co-host Jim Norton.

That was until last week when at the close of a show the hosts slipped in the fact that they were no longer working Fridays.

That created a bit of fan uproar and led to calls to the show this week where the hosts explained what was actually happening.

Instead of simply dropping the broadcast like Stern has done O&A had actually saved vacation days from the year in order to take Fridays off during the summer.

The hosts acknowledged that the change could be permanent but that would be something that waits until they negotiate new contracts.

Instead of a new Opie and Anthony show on Fridays in the morning, O&A sidekick Sam Roberts is hosting a live program Fridays from 3-6 p.m. The new show features bits from the week as well as guests.
