Microsoft is encouraging gamers to make "the jump to the new generation." For one week--September 7th to the 13th--gamers can choose a free Xbox One game upon purchasing the console.

The statement came early this morning via Xbox Wire, where they advertised, "And the sky's the limit: Whether you want to lock and load with your friends in Destiny or Titanfall, face the legions of hell in Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, hack the planet with Watch Dogs, or hit the sports arena of your choice in Madden NFL 15 or NHL 15, the choice is yours."

The Xbox One was released on November 22, 2013; media figures dubbed the new generation of gaming "The Console Wars." And it has received publicity to the point where South Park lampooned it in a three- part mini series.

Microsoft's rival, Sony, has been winning the Console Wars--with Extreme Tech reporting that the Playstation 4 is outselling the Xbox One three to one. As of August, the Playstation 4 has sold 10 Million copies globally.

But Microsoft is making efforts to compete; they reduced the price of the Xbox One by $100, in addition to their most recent endeavor.

For those looking to purchase an Eighth Generation console, Microsoft is trying to sway your decision.
