As author of The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Issa Rae pretty much detailed her life and how she became famous for it.

She stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the phrase as she has a new TV series, Insecure set to premiere very soon.

Fallon told Rae how much he loved her story and wanted to hear more about her. Fallon knew her from her YouTube videos that he said was super funny.

Rae created a series that talked about being black at Stamford University to procrastinate and not have to do a paper. She continued to create until she got to the Awkward Black Girl series that became so famous.

Fallon said Rae is really good at being the Awkward Black Girl and she agreed while pointing out their earlier meeting in the hallway. She wanted to know if they ran into each other the second time, whether or not she had to acknowledge him.

Meanwhile, Fallon revealed that HBO is a big deal as it marks a separation from the early stages with YouTube.

Rae is excited for the new show Insecure which is set to premiere on October 9 and Fallon said she is exactly what he wanted her to be, she is herself and she is fantastic.
