As one of the members of the rap group N.W.A., Ice Cube has had a decorated career both with his group members and in his solo career.

He recently stopped by the Ellen Show to talk about his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction as well as the Straight Outta Compton Oscar snub.

DeGeneres started the conversation off by raving about Straight Outta Compton and how she was very disappointed when the film wasn't nominated for an Oscar. She asked Cube what his thoughts were and his response was:

"I was so proud of my son and so proud of us to get that movie done, I wasn't worried no Oscars to be honest. I was just worried that the fans love the movie. People love the movie all over the world. To me that's what it was always about. It was never about the Oscar."

DeGeneres said that the movie was really well done and is an important movie to see. She also asked if the film helped mend the bridges with N.W.A. and Cube revealed that they were always cool with each other but to get a chance to work together again and see Dr.

Dre and the rest of the crew was the highlight. DeGeneres congratulated Cube and the group for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after all of these years of looking for recognition.

He said it's a great feeling to enjoy that moment together.

Throughout the interview DeGeneres continued to praise Cube for his transition from music to film and he was a bit taken back when she told him that he was really funny. It was the perfect transition into Barbershop: The Next Cut, which hits theaters on April 15.

Cube said with everything that is going on in the streets they felt like they have a great universal story of a father trying to keep his son on the right path.
