The Howard Stern SiriusXM show took it a little easy today but their telephone guest Leslie West is all about going hardcore on the guitar.

Stern claimed that West is one of the top five guitarists of all time and West is releasing a new album titled Soundcheck.

West called into the show to talk about the new album and his time with the band Mountains.

"Howard asked how Leslie is doing with the one leg. Leslie lost one to diabetes," according to MarksFriggin's rundown of the call.

"Leslie said that he went to Kessler and they put him on the parallel bars so he could try standing with his guitar.

He said he lasted 30 seconds. He said then he was worrying about how he was going to play on stage."

West told Stern that practicing how to walk with the one leg is fine but taking a shower with it was another thing. Stern went back and forth with West reminiscing about some of the older songs like "Theme For An Imaginary Western," a song that West wrote for Cream and Eric Clapton, according to Stern.

West said that to his knowledge the confusion about the track and why Cream didn't take it had to do with them going on the road, rather than confusion over money as Stern suggested.

According to West, he was featured in Jay-Z's "99 Problems" and a Kanye West song as well.

West's new album Soundcheck is scheduled to be released on Friday, November 20. It features 11 tracks, three of which have already been released as singles.
