Last week Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland passed away in his sleep and today he was honored with some incredible words from Howard Stern on the SiriusXM radio show.

The reports of Weiland's death began pouring in last week with speculation around the possible cause being drugs. It was later on reported that Weiland died in his sleep.

Stern's words not only came from his respect for Weiland but also because he did not believe Weiland was given his due in an article published following his death.

"Howard said he remembers when Stone Temple Pilots came on the scene. He said they were around in the 90s and it was after Nirvana and Pearl Jam," according to MarksFriggin's recap of the show.

"Howard said they were around at the same time. Howard said they were a reaction to Glam Rock.

He said they had some of that but had some grunge too. Howard said he went to an Stone Temple Pilots show and he was blown away by their stage presentation."

Weiland had made plenty of appearances on the Stern Show all of which were outlined by the Stern Show website. Sterns words were out of full admiration for Weiland, who he said was a great frontman.

Stern addressed Weiland's struggled with heroin abuse while Robin Quivers addressed the fact that there was cocaine found in Weiland's bedroom and there was still a toxicology test to be done.

Stern can't understand why some artists turn to drugs and added that he was sad to see Weiland gone at the age of 48.
