Howard Stern Recap 1/14: Gwenyth Paltrow Talks Working With Robert Downey Jr.

Wednesday morning, the Stern Studio was graced by the presence of the one and only Gwenyth Paltrow, promoting her new film, "Mordecai," in which stars alongside Johnny Depp.

Paltrow told the story of her first movie offer, starring in the movie "Cool as Ice" with Vanilla Ice. She said her father read the first page of the script, and said he forbid it.

Allegedly, Paltrow's character was asked for her number, and the number ended in 6969. Paltrow also turned down "Boogie Nights," "Titanic," and "Gangs of New York." Howard said she did a great job in "Shallow Hal."

Instead, Paltrow's career grew to star alongside Robert Downey Jr. in the "Iron Man" franchise. She talked about how the first Iron Man was hardly scripted because Downey Jr.

prefers to ad-lib, and Paltrow had a lot of fun working alongside him. Downey Jr. personally called Paltrow and convinced her to take the role of Pepper Potts.

Stern said the first big film role Paltrow landed was "Seven," but Paltrow disagreed. She said, for her, it was "Flesh and Bone" with Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. Her newest film, "Mordecai," opens on January 23rd.

Robin Quivers broke her foot! Stern opened the show with a mention of Paltrow, then immediately began discussing Quivers' tragically shattered appendage. "It's a small break," Quivers assured, but the tendons were pulled extremely. Thankfully, her boobs are a-ok.

Benjy Bronk checks his weight. Benjy is committed to his weight loss challenge, and reported that he believes he weights about 243 at the most.

When he went on the scale, he was measured at 235. Benjy plans on losing 40 pounds in the next 5 months.
