Houston is getting a hip-hop music festival. ThatVideoMag and True Head are putting together the first Houston Hip-Hop Culture Fest. The festival will be an exploration and celebration of the hip-hop culture.

The festival will focus on showing off four different parts of Hip-Hop culture. The four elements are MCing, Tuntablism, Breakdancing, and Graffiti Art.

The other goal behind the festival is to promote the Houston Hip-Hop scene.

There are many good small name acts there and the festival will give them a bigger chance of being heard. That doesn't mean that there won't be big celebrities headline as well.

ThatVideoMag founder, Dexter Bayack, thinks that most Hip-Hop events are solely focused on rap and the DJ's in the background.

"HHCF will combine all of the original elements of hip hop in one Houston event to celebrate our culture and our city. Our goal is to place power back in the hands of the people: artists, fans, and promoters."

The festival will have dance competitions with prizes up to $5,000, graffiti displays, vendors, open mic cyphers, and performances by national and local headliners. The Houston Hip-Hop Culture Festival is scheduled for February 27th, 2016.

The hope is that the festival will be a biannual event.
