On April 5, 1994 the world lost one of the greatest grunge rock frontmen of all time.
Kurt Cobain suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to his death certificate. Now 22 years later, he is still being honored on social media.
Perhaps one of the most notable tribute comes from Cobain's daughter Frances Bean. She posted a fused black and white photo of her father and Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley, who was also found dead on April 5.
The photo shows both men completely caught up in their performances, something fans will never forgot. Of course family members aren't the only ones paying their respects some 22 years later.
Fans all over social media are contributing to the celebration of Cobain's life with the hashtag #KurtCobain. Whether it's fans or social media outlets like Tumblr, everyone is makings sure that Cobain's legacy lives on. Cobain was the lead singer of Nirvana, a band who completely changed the game when it came to angsty, grunge rock.
Last year on Cobain's birthday, Pigeons and Planes released Teen Angst Has Paid Off Well, a Nirvana tribute album with covers from artists in a wide range of genres.
If you haven't guessed it by now, Cobain will be immortalized for the impact he and his band had on the rock culture. You can check out some of the tributes below.
