It was an artsy kind of Monday morning for Howard Stern and staff on The Howard Stern Show.

Stern talked about being inspired to pursue his interest in art after he met Guillermo del Toro. Writing prolifically at the time, Stern said had the privilege of seeing the famed filmmaker's journals, and was inspired by the work.

"I thought, if I could dream something, I wish I could draw it," said Stern, though he isn't satisfied with his skills just yet. "It looked like a four year old drew them." He admits he needs some time to hone his skills. "I tried to paint the sky.

And it was horrible." But he has passion is in the right place. "I fell in love with water color. Watercolor dries in all kinds of mysterious ways--its a light. It's beautiful when done correctly."

Howard Stern drew a portrait of his wife. "It wasn't horrible, in the sense that it looked like a person," he said, though his wife had a different idea.

"She said, 'That's what you think I look like?'" Staff member Fred Norris had more encouraging words. "That's not bad," he said. "You need to work on your symmetry and stuff."

"When you can't recreate what's in your head," said Robin Quivers, "It gets frustrating."

"Well," said Stern, "What can ya do."
