The trailblazing showrunner, Shonda Rhimes, is going to be publishing her first book, "Year of Yes." Allowing the public to see into the events of her life last year, while she completed a challenge to say yes.

Rhimes is known for her shows, Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and just recently How to Get Away With Murder. Each show has become a must see and Grey's Anatomy might be one of the longest shows on air that isn't a soap opera.

The book is the result of her 2014 New Years resolution.

Rhimes, an introvert at heart, was challenged to say yes to situations and events that scared her or were very unexpected. Good on her for being able to stick to the resolution.

It was announced that the book would be published by Simon and Schuster.

The publishing company asked Rhimes to write about her experience, as the showrunner had had no intentions of sharing the sometimes embarrassing situations that came from saying yes.

"Saying yes for an entire year turned out to be one of the most amazing decisions I have ever made," said Rhimes. "It was also a little insane, a lot terrifying and sometimes wildly embarrassing.

So this is not a story I ever planned to share with anyone. However, once Simon & Schuster asked me, I had no choice- what else could I say but yes?"

"Year of Yes" is due to come out in November 2015.

So far Rhimes has become a leading force in TV. Her shows are always centered around a diverse group of people, most of the time with a female lead that is actually portrayed as a human.

Recently, a scene in "How to Get Away With Murder," depicting Viola Davis's character taking off her make-up for the day was described as one of the most powerful scenes.

So it'll be most interesting to see if saying yes for a year impacts her writing. As they say, the more experiences the better the writer.
