If you're looking for some strong female characters in the male-dominated world of superheroes, look no further.

The Hole Minder is a darkly comedic tale of revenge and sibling rivalry, told in Malka's prose and graphic novel - esque illustrated sequences by Toronto artist Kasia Kaczmiercak.

In this hybrid short novel/graphic novel, a young woman seeks vengeance against her nemesis, a former lover who attempted to kill her to protect the secret of his superhero-like powers.

The Hole Minder is about the lengths one former Philosophy major goes through to right the wrong that was done to her and to restore balance to the universe.

Written by and illustrated by women in the largely male-dominated superhero fictional space, The Hole Minder features multicultural characters that aren't usually found in in this genre and one a singular, philosophically-minded plucky heroine.

The author, also philosophically minded, has been working toward publishing for many years and writes from experience of every now and then acquiring secret powers and, alternatively, being spurned by lovers.
