17-year-old James Charles has become the first ever male CoverGirl thanks to his incredible Instagram page and abilities as a makeup artist.

He was recently invited to share his story on The Ellen Show, where he told DeGeneres about his background.

DeGeneres welcomed Charles to the show and asked him how he became the first male CoverGirl.

Charles said he had been posting his makeup pictures on Instagram and for his senior pictures, he woke up very early to do his makeup, however, the photos were very bad.

Charles wanted to know if he would be able to retake the photos and when he drove there right away, he used his ring-light and it came out really well.

The photos went viral from Instagram and CoverGirl caught whim, the rest as they say, is history. Charles came out as gay to his parents at the age of 12 and said they were very accepting of him.

School was also accepting of him and he said he was very thankful for having a pretty easy time with it.

Charles said there were people who weren't really accepting at first, however, once he grew as a person he learned a lot more and many people accepted him.

Charles said his parents thought he was trans at first because he liked to wear makeup and wanted to do makeup as a career. However, he is not trans he just likes to wear makeup.

Katy Perry actually surprised Charles on the CoverGirl set during the shoot and they got to hang out for a bit. You can hear James Charles' incredible story from The Ellen Show in the video below.
