Just a little under two weeks before the release of his new film The Nice Guys, Russell Crowe paid Ellen DeGeneres a visit and talked about what it's like having dinner with Ryan Gosling and much more during the show.

DeGeneres asked Crowe if he knew Gosling before the film and after having a laugh to himself, he said he had watched three of his films in a row at one point. He watched Drive, Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Ides of March.

He wanted to reach out to Gosling and have a nice quiet dinner to discuss their film with their significant others.

Crowe says he told his wife about the dinner and she didn't say much at first. However, on the day of, she invited 12 of her friends and his mother-in-law.

So, in order to even things up Crowe began calling friends of his like RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and Eli Roth.

Crowe says Gosling walked into the room and there was about 30 people. Crowe says he explained it as being his wife's fault a couple years later when they finally worked with each other.
