The iconic and groundbreaking artist Prince was remembered on the Ellen Show and Ellen DeGeneres took a look back at his first appearance on the show.

While the world mourns the loss of the artist, his memory still lives on through his countless appearances.

DeGeneres started her remembrance by stating that by now, everyone is aware of Prince's death. Prince was found dead on Thursday, April 21.

The host said that one of the best parts of her jobs is that she gets to meet some incredible artists and heroes of her who also perform live on the stage.

DeGeneres said that of all of the bands and artists on the show, there was no one like Prince.

"He was an artist, an icon, a genius and he was kind enough to appear on my show on the very first season in 2003," said DeGeneres.

"You have to understand it's a big deal because most stars wait to see if a talk show is going to be successful, they wait to see if it's a cool thing to do before they say yes and he did it on the first season so it meant a lot to me."

DeGeneres played a bit of Prince's first appearance on the Ellen Show as well as his performance of his hit song "Kiss." DeGeneres ended the show but showing one of Prince's incredible performances of Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares," which he wrote.
