Hip-hop is continuing to dominate the top five on the Billboard Emerging Artists Chart as Dej Loaf, OG Maco and iLoveMakonnen continue to reign, but other genres continue to break through.

Standing at number one is Dej Loaf and her hit song "Try Me" that has been sitting on top for the better part of over a week. The Detroit repping artist spits gangster lyrics over a seemingly low-key beat.

She is quite hardcore despite her appearance and warns others not to "try her." Wiz Khalifa graced the remix of "Try Me" which helped pushed the song and this new artist into popularity.

Big Sean had even taken to Twitter to co-sign Loaf and give her a shout out.

OG Maco continues to tell everyone they were right in his song "U Guessed It." His song has been moving up and down the Emerging Artists Chart from the initial release. His unorthodox style was compared to that of Waka Flocka Flame. He goes from a high pitched yell to a very quiet whisper and trait comparable to Flame.

The music he makes is for making crowds hyped along with making hilarious Vines.

The song has been the subject for a number of Vines including the one below, which would probably be the reason for most of its success across social media.

Raury is an interesting artist out of East Atlanta, Georgia he combines rhymes with a folk sound backing them. It is one of the most experimental sounds that appear in the top five Emerging Artists.

His music is also accompanied with well-directed music videos like that of his hit "God's Whisper." Simple as they may be they work for the sound he generates. Raury has also been seen hanging out with Kid Cudi, someone who hasn't shied away from taking the experimental approach in his music.

Could his company mean a collaboration sometime soon?

Perhaps the outlier in the group would be the Alternative group Stars with their hit "No One Is Lost." The group has their self-titled album scheduled to be released on October 14 which also contains their other hit "From The Night." The electrifying dance feel in their music is tailored for the new wave of music-goers looking to get down.

For fans who want to hear the album first it is now available for stream on CBC Music's First Play.

Finally rounding out the group is iLoveMakonnen who is no stranger to the Billboard Emerging Artists Chart after Drake's remix of "Tuesday" caused the song to skyrocket into popularity. This time Makonnen is in the top five for his song "Wishing You Well," produced by Mike Will Made-It.

It is not a traditional hip-hop song because it features a smoother beat comparable to an R&B grove. It also has a few hints of alternative rock within it as Makonnen showcases his versatility.
