Fresh off the release of his new album, If I'm Honest, and a performance at the Billboard Music Awards featuring Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton visited the Ellen Show to talk about his duet with Stefani and more.

DeGeneres told the audience and fans that Shelton performed with Stefani for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

She said when Shelton and Stefani sang the song on The Voice, it must have been strange to perform it and not look at each other and laugh, contrary to the performance at the Billboard Music Awards.

Shelton told DeGeneres that they kind of laughed a few times and that there are moments where it's like they are singing a song as if they were going to breakup but they aren't. He said when they wrote the song, they never saw it going there or anywhere.

Shelton started the song to impress Stefani, then, Stefani wrote the other half to it and one-upped him.

@BlakeShelton is on tomorrow. I wonder what he'll wear.

Both DeGeneres and Shelton agreed that Stefani was on a role when it came to writing her most recent album. DeGeneres said it is interesting that they both got together and creativity poured out of her. Shelton said that If I'm Honest is the most honest record he has written in some time.

He said normally he tries to cover up what is going on but this one is full of ups and downs. He believed that if all of the magazines were going to cash in on him, so would he.
