Very few comedians can play arenas and few would have expected Aziz Ansari to be one of them.
It's not that he's not funny, it's the Ansari is an intelligent comedian doing off-kilter jokes.
He's not Dane Cook appealing to frat boys or Jerry Seinfeld doing slice of life routines that the whole family can enjoy. He's an offbeat alternative comedian that appeals to smart people.
That did not stop the comic's slow rise to the top -- something he seemed pretty grateful and shocked for on Twitter, where he shared scenes from his Madison Square Garden show.
