Comedian Andy Samberg has been on a pretty intense press tour for his new movie Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping.

He stopped by the Howard Stern SiriusXM radio show to talk about the film along with his days on SNL and more.

Stern welcomed Samberg to the show and said he was enjoying the Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping and laughing a lot however, his Pix Box was cut off a half hour in to it so he couldn't finish it up, however it was pretty funny.

Samberg explained that they all thought negatively about One Direction and Justin Bieber before the film.

He says he actually is a massive fan of rap but there is a lot surrounding it that allowed them to have fun with it.

"Howard asked why Judd Apatow produced this and not Lorne Michaels. Andy said he and his friends had been talking about doing a movie like this," according to MarksFriggin's rundown.

"Howard said this is really cool. He said Andy met these guys in school Akiva and Jorma who work with him on this stuff.

Andy said the best stuff he's worked on he worked on with them. Howard said the three of them auditioned together for Saturday Night Live."

Samberg says it was between SNL and WWF when he was 8-years-old until he found out wrestling was fake.

Stern brought up the fact that he thought Samberg was the next Sandler which led Samberg to point out that people do confuse him for Adam and call him Adam all the time.

Samberg talked about meeting some of his legends like Steve Martin and Tina Fey. He also revealed that Jimmy Fallon looked out for him a lot when he was coming up and put in a good word for them.

Another fun fact that Stern brought up was that Samberg's first name wasn't Andy at birth, it was actually David. It was changed because at the age of 5-years-old he wanted his name changed and his mother obliged.

"Howard asked how he got the job writing for Jimmy Fallon for the MTV Movie Awards. Andy said his buddy Murray Miller who was a friend from summer camp hooked him up," according to MF.

"He said he's the best too. He said he's hooked him up a bunch of times.

He said once they were in the MTV system they were asked to come back. Andy said Jimmy brought a bunch of Saturday Night Live writers with him to write that stuff."

Samberg explored his early days on SNL, how he met his wife, Joanna Newsom and expanded on what Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping is all about.
