Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to electrify Saturday Night Live once again later this year.

The Rock is set to host the show for the fifth time in his career. He is set to host the Season Finale which will be airing later this year.

Dwayne Johnson made the announcement over on his official Instagram page. He will host the show on May 20th, 2017 and he teased that he is coming home to make history on the show.

He also said that he will host a "killer show" with the brilliant SNL cast and production crew. We may even see him get drunk during show.

Saturday Night Live is special for The Rock as it was one of the first times that he had big mainstream exposure.

The WWE at the time held an SNL special in the year 2000 and many Hollywood producers were impressed with The Rock's work. It's said that his first appearance on SNL really opened the doors for him in Hollywood.

Fast forward 17 years later and The Rock is now the biggest and highest paid actor in Hollywood. Not to mention People Magazine also named him as the "Sexiest Man Alive" back in 2016.

Usually wrestlers in Hollywood aren't successful, but Dwayne Johnson broke that trend. He helped opened the doors for the likes of Dave Bautista and John Cena to get work on several Hollywood movies.

It's also worth mentioning SNL itself has seen a resurgence in ratings.

This is all thanks to Alec Baldwin and Melissa McCarthy due to their parodies of Donald Trump and his presidential team.

It's unlikely The Rock's show will get too political, although he could always throw in a little joke to get the crowd pumped.
