Spider-Man: Homecoming came out earlier this year to a lot of praise from both fans and critics alike.

Due to the winning formula, Sony and Marvel Studios are bringing back the writers that penned the first movie to helm Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are returning to write the sequel that is coming out in 2019.

They are in the final negotiations to pen the script for the new movie that is taking place after the fourth Avengers movie.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are a busy duo as they have worked on the likes of The Lego Batman Movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Ant-Man and the Wasp just to name a few.

Homecoming is a great movie that featured the right type of Spider-Man humor that was severely lacking in the previous films.

Director, Jon Watts, is expected to also be back for the sequel. Tom Holland is already contracted to return for the second movie as well.

Holland signed a six movie deal with Sony and Marvel Studios.

These movies included Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. The sixth movie is unknown, but it could be a third standalone Spider-Man movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 has a release date of July 5th, 2019. It is suggested the movie might focus on the Sinister Six has the main bad guys.

They planted seeds for multiple villains to possibly appear in the first movie. We'll just have to wait for more details in the coming years. Marvel and Sony don't want to spoil their plans too early yet.
