In the Infinity Gauntlet comic book, Adam Warlock played a huge part in saving the universe from Thanos.

However so far in the MCU, the character has yet to make an appearance of any kind. Well Avengers: Infinity War directors, the Russo brothers, has explained why the character is not in the movies.

Bear in mind some spoilers for both Avengers: Infinity War and the Infinity Gauntlet comic book will be discussed in this article. If you are sensitive to spoilers, you can choose to click away from this post.

Anyway, at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos does the unthinkable and manages to erase half of all life in the Universe thanks to the power of the Infinity Gauntlet.

Many fans were hoping that Adam Warlock was going to appear in the Avengers 4 sequel to save the day, but sadly it's been confirmed he's not being introduced in the films yet.

During an interview with Comicbook.com, the Russo brothers gave an explanation why Adam Warlock will not be a part of Avengers 4. You can read their comments on the matter down below.

"Yeah [Adam Warlock]’s not showing up in our stories. Look, our job as we said a million times is to tell the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not to do direct adaptations of the comics because we’re comic book fans. I have no interest as a director in telling a story that’s already been told or in seeing one that’s already been told."

Another reason for the character's absence is to make sure fans keep guessing to see what happens in the sequel. The Russo brothers further elaborated it's no fun making a film that people know the end result of it already.

While Adam Warlock will not be in Avengers 4, it looks like he is getting replaced by Captain Marvel instead. She is a powerful enough character to try and correct the bad things Thanos did in Infinity War.
