In the wake of his tragic death reports have come out that Robin Williams was facing money problems and was depressed over having to take movie parts simply for the paycheck.

Multiple divorces almost certainly contributed to the financial woes of a man who had a long run as a top box office star. Though his star had dimmed a bit in recent years and his television show, "The Crazy Ones," was cancelled by CBS, Williams still worked steadily.

He has at least four movies set to be released -- all of which would have been decent, if not large paydays.

That apparently was not enough to keep the actor, whose fortune had been estimated in 2012 at $130 million flush with cash.

Williams blamed this on his divorces.

In an interview with Parade Magazine last year, Williams complained about how he had to change his lifestyle because of how much he lost in his two divorces (reportedly, $30 million).

He said he returned to TV because he had "bills to pay." Williams also admitted to listing his Napa Valley estate for sale because he could no longer afford it.

Despite that, Forbes estimated that Williams left behind real estate alone that had a value of around $25 million. Overall, his remaining assets are reported to be worth around $50 million and the star had set up trusts for his children.

Williams was survived by his third wife, Susan Schneider and three adult children from his prior two marriages, whose ages range from 25 to 31.
