Terry Sylvester, formerly of The Hollies, will stand-in for Gerry Marsden (of Gerry & The Pacemakers) in the British Invasion Tour.

Gerry was taken suddenly ill on holiday and doctors have ordered him to rest before he resumes his extensive touring schedule.

"It is with deep regret that Gerry has had to withdraw from the British Invasion US Tour due to a sudden illness," said Marsden's spokesman today.

"Gerry is extremely sad to be letting his fans down; however he hopes the tour is a great success and wishes his fellow artists a happy and wonderful tour."

Terry Sylvester grew up in Liverpool, cutting his teeth with such seminal Merseybeat outfits as The Swinging Blue Jeans ("Hippy Hippy Shake" / "You're No Good") and The Escorts.

However, his greatest success came when he joined hitmakers The Hollies ("Bus Stop"/ "Carrie Anne"), replacing none other than Graham Nash.

A Trail of gold records followed, including "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and "Long Cool Woman." Sylvester will be performing Hollies and Swinging Blue Jeans material, brining his authentic Mersey style to the shows.

The British Invasion tour also features Chad & Jeremy ("A Summer Song"); Billy J. Kramer ("Little Children"); Denny Laine of The Moody Blues ("Go Now"); and Mike Pender of The Searchers ("Love Potion Number Nine").

The British Invasion tour will be appearing at The Wellmont Theater on Friday, September 12th and NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Sunday, September 14th at 8 p.m.
